Bio
Isabelle is a beautiful flower overshadowed by flowers more beautiful than her. Isabelle’s story is quite a tragic one as she has fallen in love with someone who does not feel the same way about her. This unrequited love causes her melancholy and pain and can sometimes fester into jealousy and even anger. This is why she attempts to steal Christian away from Alyssa but she can never succeed in this endeavor.
Isabelle has long brown hair, often tied in an elaborate braid. Her eyes are the same color as her hair and she is quite pretty. She has a petite frame and would be considered having beauty rivalling that of a princess or a queen, however this always seems to be overlooked as she is often compared to her best friend Alyssa.
Growing up as an only child, Isabelle was quite loved by her parents, she was their shining star, a brilliant and beautiful daughter that they cared for more than anything. Even when Caius was born, their love for their daughter only seemed reinforced. Rather than transfer all that lovingness solely to Caius, they shared in it and remembered times when Isabelle was small like him. Caius as well grew to love and adore his older sister so that when she joined Eden’s Academy for Gifted Arians, the family was both incredibly proud and incredibly sad.
Leaving them for months at a time was no easy thing for Isabelle and so she was determined to find a friend at the Academy that she could rely on. That friend turned out to be Alyssa. Alyssa had found making friends somewhat difficult but with Isabelle everything came naturally and soon they were inseparable, one could hardly be seen without the other. Their friendship was severely put to the test when Christian joined the Academy. As soon as he did, Isabelle confessed her crush on him to Alyssa who always claimed that she did not like Christian in the same way. However, as we know, Christian fell for Alyssa and was determined to get her to feel the same way. When he succeeded this placed Alyssa in a difficult situation and rather than be straight and honest with those around her she chose to hide it instead. When the secret was revealed it devastated all around her whom she had lied to, Isabelle included.
This caused a great rift between the two and soon after Isabelle left to join the Saviors instead, not able to cope with her heartbreak and seeing Christian with Alyssa constantly. The only comfort she had during this time was her innocent baby brother Caius and she tried to pour out all her love on him instead. But it did not dull her feelings in the slightest and upon seeing Christian separated from Alyssa and without his memories, she decided to act in a horrible way and lie, as Alyssa lied to her, to her beloved Christian.
Inspiration
Unrequited love is an easy thing to conceptualize, we all have someone that we adore but cannot be with, and that distance can sometimes manifest into ugly feelings or even physical pain. It isn’t an easy thing to live with and so I wanted to explore this trait in Isabelle.
“Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love.” ~ Dumbledore
Isabelle does not live without love, in fact her capacity for love is exactly what brings her so much pain. But this quote always resonated with me from the Harry Potter series and so I decided to do one such take on it with Isabelle in the form of unrequited love. Of course the quote speaks about those who do not love at all, namely Voldemort, but it can also be reinterpreted to incorporate the other forms of love.
Her name comes from my metaphor that Isabelle is a beautiful flower in a garden but no one notices her because Alyssa blooms more beautiful still. And so Flora became Florentina, a sufficiently flower-like name. This does not mean that Isabelle won’t find love, she just can’t find it in Christian.
