A sword whose name can roughly translate to vengeance. This blade represents the regret Kenji harbors for his past mistakes and his desire to right the wrongs that caused him and his sister to be banished from Ari and also caused Irina to be possessed by evil. This blade will see him through his journey to protect and save the ones that he loves.
Bio
Kenji is a protector of joy, happiness and the innocent. He is the twin brother of Layna and they are very similar in nature. He too is quite jovial and indulges his sister in playful games, jokes, pranks and schemes. Kenji is the more serious of the pair however and his desire to protect his sister from harm usually has him bear more responsibilities and face more threats so that Layna wouldn’t have to. He does not care for Layna’s friendly competition and instead tries to encourage her and point out her strengths. He hates seeing her focus on her weaknesses and have herself feel inadequate as a consequence. He adores his sister but she fails to notice due to her jealousy.
His appearance is very similar to Layna, with spiky brown hair and similarly colored eyes, he has the same slight built like Layna although he is a bit stronger in his physique. Kenji is boyishly handsome as he is just as youthful as his sister, however, when he takes command in a situation, you can see the man he will become.
Kenji also has another great love, Irina Rosewood, who was captured by the demon attendant Gaira. He blames himself for her capture as he, Layna and Irina were playing a game in Ari, their home planet, when Kenji suggested they explore further down the mountain than they were allowed to. The girls protested but Kenji was always a bit more reckless and daring than they. So when he ran onto the grassy plains that were forbidden by his village the girls followed with trepidation. There they stumbled across an old lab with a curious symbol etched into the floor. That’s when Irina found the Mask of Remnants and donning it caused her to be possessed by the spirit of Akrobat. The children could do nothing to stop her as with incredible acrobatics she leapt from the lab and sought out the demon Gaira and they lost her forever.
As punishment for their actions the twins were banished from their village and placed in the care of Baron Bancroft of the Saviors so that he might teach them discipline. They have since proven themselves quite capable and although their mother forgives them readily, their father still feels ashamed and Irina’s parents try not to speak to or look at the twins on their return visits to the village. Kenji swore to bring her back and right his wrong but that led him to tread a dark and dangerous path.
Inspirations & Insights
Most of his inspirations come from Layna as he is her male counterpart. His more serious side comes from that brotherly instinct to protect one’s sister and the masculine impulse to protect all those who cannot protect themselves. In a strange way his character was inspired by Layna. Beyond that his relationship with Christian starts off on a rocky footing but eventually turns into a sort of mutual respect between the two men. Kenji is driven by his past mistakes and by his will to protect those that he cares about.
